How Ladder Health can help

Four areas of support for your child

You do not need to know which kind of therapy your child may need. Start by sharing what you have been noticing.

Physical Therapy (PT)

PTs support gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and muscle strength. They often help with delayed crawling or walking, difficulty running and jumping, and torticollis.

Occupational Therapy (OT)

OTs support sensory, cognitive, emotional, and physical development, including fine motor skills, play, daily living skills, sensory processing, and executive function.

Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)

SLPs support communication, early literacy, play, and social development. They often help with talking, understanding, articulation and pronunciation, and stuttering.

Feeding Therapy

OT feeding specialists support the oral motor, fine motor, sensory, and postural skills involved in eating and drinking.

SLP feeding specialists support oral motor and swallowing development, including bottle feeding, chewing, cup and straw drinking, and swallowing.

Your child’s care, connected

We coordinate with your child’s doctor.

Ladder Health accepts all insurance in North Carolina. If your plan requires a referral order, we work directly with your child’s doctor to coordinate it.

Once care begins, we keep the referring provider informed with regular progress updates, so everyone supporting your child stays connected.

You know your child best.

You might be wondering about things like:

Talking and communicating

Using words, understanding directions, or expressing wants and needs

Everyday routines

Getting dressed, feeding, toileting, brushing teeth, or other daily activities

Movement and coordination

Running, climbing, balance, strength, or keeping up with other children

Using their hands

Playing with toys, drawing, using utensils, buttons, or other fine-motor skills

Sensory and emotional regulation

Transitions, big reactions, or sensitivity to sounds, textures, or other sensations

Eating and feeding

Trying foods, chewing, swallowing, or making mealtimes easier

You don’t need to know what kind of therapy your child might need. Ladder Health can help you figure out the next step.

Skip the wait

Already waiting for an appointment?

Many families we work with have been down this road before: a referral from the pediatrician, services through school or Early Intervention, or months on an outpatient waitlist.

You don’t have to give up your spot in line. Ladder Health can usually see your child within two weeks, and care can start alongside whatever you already have in place.

Appointments within two weeks

No waitlist to join, even if you already have a referral order pending elsewhere.

Been in therapy before? That helps.

Bring what you already know. Past evaluations, school plans, and progress notes give us a head start.

Aging out of Early Intervention?

If state services are ending or your child is moving on from Pre-K supports, Ladder Health can pick up where they left off.

More support for your child, when you need it

Aeroflow Urology helps families access important healthcare supplies and services.

Ladder Health provides developmental care for young children.

Together, we’re making it easier for families to find additional support when questions come up about a child’s development.

What happens next?

Three steps, and the first one takes a few minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know what kind of therapy my child needs?

No. You don’t need to know whether your child needs speech, occupational, physical, or feeding therapy. Start by telling the Ladder Health team what you’ve been noticing. They can help determine what type of support, if any, may be appropriate.

How much does it cost, and do you take my insurance?

The 45-minute evaluation is free, and Ladder Health accepts all insurance in North Carolina. Before any ongoing therapy begins, our team will confirm your coverage and let you know what to expect.

We’re already on a waitlist somewhere else. Should we still do this?

Yes. You don’t have to stop pursuing other options to get an evaluation from Ladder Health. Ladder Health can usually see your child within two weeks, so you may be able to get answers and a plan while you continue exploring other care options.

My child has had therapy before. Do we start over?

Not necessarily. If you have past evaluations, therapy notes, school plans, or other information about your child’s care, sharing them with the Ladder Health team can help your clinician understand what has already been tried and where your child is today.

Is Ladder Health virtual?

Yes. Ladder Health provides developmental care through virtual appointments, so your family can participate from home. Your clinician can see your child in the environment where everyday development happens—during play, meals, movement, and routines—and help you practice strategies between appointments.

What happens during the evaluation?

During the 45-minute virtual evaluation, a Ladder Health clinician will talk with you about what you’ve been noticing, learn about your child’s development and daily routines, and assess areas where support may be helpful. If therapy is recommended, the team will explain the next steps and help create a plan for your child.

Does my child need a diagnosis before we get started?

No. Your child does not need a formal diagnosis to be referred to Ladder Health. You can start with the questions or concerns you have, and the Ladder Health team can help determine whether an evaluation may be appropriate.

What happens after the evaluation?

If therapy is recommended, your clinician will develop a personalized plan based on your child’s needs, goals, and everyday routines. The Ladder Health team will also review your insurance coverage before ongoing therapy begins.

Will Aeroflow automatically send my child’s information to Ladder Health?

You stay in control of your child’s information. Aeroflow and Ladder Health only share information through the approved referral process and according to applicable privacy requirements.
